Korean Music: Clazziquai

K-Music of the Month

Everyone loves K-Pop . . . . well just about everyone. K-Pop is fun, young, sexy and trendy.  You got Big Bang, 2PM, After School, Kara alot of them.

But is that all there is to Korean music. Of Course not, there can't be?  I have found it, they don't get much play but the group is loved internationally . . . . Clazziquai.  The group originally consists of A DJ, DJ Clazziquai who is basically a computer geek and started experimenting with music and his friends Alex and Christina Chu who are siblings.

Eventually Christina was replaced by Horan and that is the group to this day.  They have completed four albums Instant Pig, Color Your Soul, Love Child of the Century and Mucho Punk (my favorite) and Mucho Musica along with some remix albums.  I call them a Indie group or Neo Soul as we Americans call it, the music can go from soulful to electronic in seconds and still sounds good.  Alex and Horan's voice over Clazziquai's music is like butter.

I can honestly say I listen to them basically everyday and it never gets old the music is well put together and often has a positive message. A few of my faves are Creator, Chocolate Truffles, Boss Nova all awesome songs. So no I'm not knocking K-Pop ( I think Rain is SUPER sexy  . . . He also did a track with Omarion, a R&B singer here in the states, it made me say hmmmmm . . . Saranghae!) I do listen to it and have a few that I like but it was also good to see the other side of Korean music and I must say its nice on that side too.

KDrama: My Lovely Samsoon

The beautiful Kim Sun Ah!

Cast

One of my most favorite Kdramas in the whole world is . .. . .  My Lovely Samsoon.  Yes this drama came out some years ago, 2005 to be exact, but its new to me.  The drama is about a middle aged women who is a baker for a living.  On one Christmas Eve she catches her boyfriend cheating and HE breaks up with HER on the spot.

On that same night she ran into her future boss Hyun Jin-heon who runs the restaurant Bon Appetite and whom she soon began to date.  She is older he is younger, but eventually no one cares.  At times it was very touching and at times I wanted to jump through the computer and ask either Sam soon or Hyun Jin-heon if they where crazy.  Its funny, sweet, romantic and highly relate-able in some way.  Enjoy!

Korean Movie Time! : Sweet Lies

Cast
Ji-ho (Jin-hie Park)
Min-woo (Ki-woo Lee)

I have watched a ton of Korean movies now and although all love stories may seem to be the same either American movies, Spanish movies or even French it never fails at some point in watching a Korean movie I began to tear up a little.  I don't know if its because I can relate, or maybe the movie's message is just that sweet. Whatever the case may be I love them. The latest Korean Movie I watched is called Sweet Lies.

This movie is basically about a young women who plays a TV writer Ji-ho (Jin-hie Park) who has been secretly in love with Min-woo (Ki-woo Lee) for the last 10 years . . . .yea I said it 10 years!!  After a string of bad luck she somehow gets hit by Min-woos car and pretends to have amnesia and therefore sees her chance to get close to him.  The movie was sweet and funny.  I have seen Jin-hie Park in both comedic roles and dramatic roles and I must say she is one of my favorite Korean actresses and cute to boot!  If anyone knows what it feels like to like someone (maybe not for 10years . . . . at least I hope not) and would do just about anything to get that persons attention then you would probably enjoy this movie.  Yes it has subtitles but it does not take away from her charm and quick wit.

KDrama Time: After The Banquet

What I've watched:

Most of the Korean movies I've watched (I'm not embarrassed to say) I usually pick them based on an actor or actress I've seen in a drama or if any of the male leads are worth me gawking at.  This one was a little bit of both.  The English title is called After the Banquet.  The plot consist of seven college friends getting together after a wedding and spending the weekend reminiscing catching up and discovering their friendships again. However, one of the friends is not present but her daughter comes instead looking for her father who is amongst the group.  With the new wedding, baby daddy drama, and rekindling friendships this movie made for an interesting watch.  Hope you enjoy!

What I'm watching and Korean Skin care

Hello to all or you one person who may be reading this blog! Thank you for your support.

I want to share a youtube video about "Layering" skin care products. As I watch K-Dramas I notice in bedroom scenes where a woman character may have tons of products on her dresser. Yes, American women have tons of makeup and products as well but usually everything from makeup to jewelry to skin care and trinkets. I have also watched scenes of women putting on more than few types of creams and skin concoctions.

Today's video is from Michelle Phan. She is an artist, makeup artist and Lancome video consultant. The chick is awesome. In this video she demonstrates and talks about the "layering" technique most commonly used in countries of the Orient.
